I believe AAJA should shine the spotlight on our incredibly talented photographers and photojournalists. Not just at convention but throughout the year. From legendary pioneers like Dith Pran and Nick Ut, to consummate pros like Paul Sakuma and Corky Lee, to perfectionist lensmen like Barry Wong and Hyungwon Kang, we should be featuring their work prominently on our website and our social media pages and in our branding.

What does AAJA get out of it? AAJA photographers are among our most generous members, digging into their own pockets to professionally frame the gorgeous prints they donate for our annual Photo Auctions at convention. In 2010, former National Treasurer Candace Heckman featured several photographers’ prints on a set of blank note cards as a fundraiser for AAJA. What a great way to both promote our members and share their tremendous talents for more people to enjoy. Let’s keep it up!
